World Aids Day 2023 at Witkoppen Clinic

LET COMMUNITIES LEAD 2023

Witkoppen Clinic, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing affordable, high quality comprehensive healthcare services, is pleased to announce its annual World Aids Day (WAD) and Clinic Open Day event scheduled for the 1st of December 2023. This event is made possible through the generous support of Adcock Ingram and St. Michael’s Church Bryanston.

Located on 105 Winnie Mandela Drive in Fourways, Johannesburg (previously known as William Nicol Drive) Witkoppen Clinic serves as a vital healthcare resource to individuals from disadvantaged communities. Attending over 250 patients daily, the clinic’s mission is to ensure accessible healthcare for all, with a particular focus on addressing challenges posed by the HIV/AIDS pandemic.  World AIDS DAY is a global awareness day which initiates international solidarity, promotes prevention and supports those affected by the disease. The clinic has made it its responsibility to honour the lives of those that have survived and/or lost the battle against HIV/AIDS.

Under the theme “LET COMMUNITIES LEAD 2023,” this year’s event aims to highlight essential roles of communities to fight against HIV/AIDS. Recognising the power of community-led initiatives and partnerships efforts in addressing the impact of HIV/AIDS as well as achieving sustainable outcomes. Since 1998, Witkoppen Clinic has had a dedicated HIV unit addressing the HIV epidemic which has tested over 450,000 individuals for HIV. Since 2008, the HIV positivity has dropped from 36.6% in 2004, to an amazing 3.6% in 2023.
